Silent Auction Fun
Throughout the evening, don’t forget to check out our silent auction table! From unique experiences to incredible items, all proceeds go towards supporting the upkeep of our rescue center and sanctuary. Your bids directly help cover medical expenses, special diets, enclosure maintenance, and rehabilitation efforts for animals in need.
A silent auction is a type of auction where items or experiences are displayed for attendees to view, and bidders write down their bids on a sheet of paper or on a digital device instead of bidding aloud as in a traditional auction. The auction typically runs for a set period of time, during which participants can place bids on the items they are interested in.
Here’s how it works:
- Items or Experiences Displayed: The items up for auction are displayed with a description of each item, including details about its value, usage, or any relevant information.
- Bidding Process: Instead of calling out bids, participants write down the amount they are willing to pay for the item on a bid sheet (or in some cases, a mobile or online platform). The bids are confidential, and each person can choose to place a higher bid than the previous one.
- Winning Bid: At the end of the auction, the person with the highest bid for each item wins the item and is asked to pay for it. The winning bids are typically announced or the winners are contacted after the auction ends.

Marfil is Headlining!
Marfil was founded as “Bocaracá” in 1969 in the Atlantic port town of Limón on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Limón (and other Central American countries with Caribbean coast) is known for its Jamaican, Bahamian & Lesser Antillean heritage and reggae rhythms which had a direct influence on the sound of the band. Their sound blends reggae, soca, soul, and jazz.
