- Expert Climbers: Tayras have short, curved claws that are strong and perfectly adapted for climbing and running, rather than digging.
- Sensory Pads: They have hairless pads on their feet surrounded by stiff sensory hairs for enhanced environmental awareness.
- Omnivorous Diet: Tayras eat a variety of foods, including fruits, carrion, small vertebrates, insects, and honey.
