Conservation Collaboration: A Virtual Fundraising Adventure for Schools

“Conservation Collaboration” is a unique and impactful virtual experience designed for large classes or multiple schools coming together to support wildlife conservation while learning about the essential work of organizations like Toucan Rescue Ranch (TRR). This hands-on program allows students to work collaboratively on a fundraising project with a shared goal, bringing their efforts to life in an exciting, educational, and meaningful way. Perfect for schools looking to integrate conservation into their curriculum, this program offers a blend of wildlife education and real-world engagement.

Program Overview:

In this dynamic 45-60 minute virtual experience, schools will set a fundraising goal—based on their size and interest. For example, previous schools have set a goal of $1000 (like the Summit Schools). This amount can fund important aspects of wildlife rescue and conservation efforts at TRR, from rescuing injured animals to supporting educational outreach programs. 100% of the funds raised go directly to the conservation work being done at the Ranch.

What’s Included:

  • Learn about Toucan Rescue Ranch’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rican wildlife.
  • Understand the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in conservation, including how they operate, fundraise, and collaborate with local communities and international partners.
  • Explore TRR’s clinic, quarantine, and rehabilitation facilities to see firsthand how animals are treated when they arrive.
  • Discover the process behind medical treatmentquarantine, and rehabilitation for rescued wildlife, including birds, mammals, and reptiles.
  • Get a glimpse into our sanctuary, where animals that cannot be returned to the wild are cared for long-term.
  • Hear directly from vetsveterinary assistantsbiologists, and other conservation professionals as they share the specifics of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Learn about their career paths, the education required, and what it’s like to work in the field of wildlife conservation.
  • Ask them your questions about what it’s like working at the Ranch, and what a typical day looks like for them.

TRR offers a variety of volunteer and internship programs that provide hands-on experience in wildlife conservation, animal care, environmental education, and more. Learn about how you can gain practical experience while making a difference.

  • Discover the personal and professional benefits of participating in TRR’s internship programs, and how these opportunities can help shape your future career in conservation.

After the presentation, students will have a Q&A session with the conservation professionals at TRR. This is your chance to ask about careers in wildlife conservation, what it takes to get started in the field, and any other questions you have about the work we do.

Depending on availability, the tour may feature a glimpse into the daily work of one or more team members on the day of the tour. For example, you might join an ongoing procedure in the clinic, watch a biologist track wildlife, or see how our marketing team promotes the Ranch’s programs. This gives you a real-time experience of what it’s like to be involved in wildlife conservation.
