Get ready for a heartwarming and educational virtual field trip with our Saving Sloths Together tour, focused on the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation efforts surrounding one of the world’s most beloved and unique creatures – the sloth!
In this 30-minute classroom-friendly experience, we’ll introduce you to the Saving Sloths Together (SST) Program, which is dedicated to ensuring the health and future of sloths through rescue, rehabilitation, and prevention. This program provides a unique opportunity to learn not only about the sloths at Toucan Rescue Ranch, but also about the collaborative work being done with ESPH (Empresa de Servicios Publicos de Heredia S.A) and other conservation partners to protect these incredible creatures in the wild.
During the tour, you’ll:
- Meet Baby Sloths: Learn how we care for baby sloths and understand the vital role they play in the SST program. Discover the challenges these tiny, vulnerable animals face and how we support their growth and development.
- Explore the Clinic: Take an inside look at our veterinary clinic, where injured and orphaned sloths receive specialized care. From x-rays to treatments and physical therapy, you’ll see how we work to give sloths a second chance at life.
- Visit Our Permanent Residents: Meet the sloths who call Toucan Rescue Ranch their forever home. These residents, many of whom are unable to be released back into the wild, help teach us about the ongoing needs of sloths and the important role of conservation.
- Learn About Sloth Education & Prevention: Discover how we work with local schools and communities to educate the public about sloth conservation, human-wildlife conflict, and how to prevent injuries to sloths in the wild. From training to outreach programs, we’re working to ensure that future generations of sloths will thrive in their natural habitats.
- ESPH Collaboration: Find out about the partnership with ESPH and how this collaboration enhances our efforts to prevent diseases and injuries to sloths, improve their care, and promote sustainable conservation practices.
Throughout the tour, there will be interactive moments where you can answer questions and learn more about the fascinating world of sloths. This immersive experience is perfect for classrooms, homeschool groups, or anyone passionate about wildlife conservation.
