That’s right! It’s the 9th Annual Sloth Ironman Games at the one and only Toucan Rescue Ranch! Every October, we bring together sloths, each with their own unique stories and personalities, to participate in a friendly competition that raises vital funds for our Saving Sloths Together Program.
But let’s be real—it’s not just about fun and games (though we do have a lot of that!). This event is a vital part of our conservation efforts. The Sloth Ironman Games not only celebrate these incredible creatures but also shine a spotlight on the importance of supporting their care and rewilding. What is Saving Sloths Together?
In 2017, Toucan Rescue Ranch partnered with The Sloth Institute Costa Rica to form Saving Sloths Together (SST)—a nationwide initiative aimed at giving rescued sloths a second chance at life. Together, we combine decades of experience, scientific knowledge, and a deep passion for sloth conservation to improve sloth rescue, rehabilitation, and rewilding efforts in Costa Rica. SST’s mission is simple but profound: to ensure that every sloth rescued can eventually return to the wild, where they truly belong.
