Costa Rica is home to nearly 5% of the world’s biodiversity… That’s a lot of wildlife, with rich habitat, and amazing ecosystems. In fact, people from all over the world come to Costa Rica to visit its amazing beaches, rainforests, volcanoes, and of course, wildlife.
It’s for that very reason that we stand to protect Costa Rica’s wildlife. This beautiful country teaches us about nature and its beauty every day – and with your help, we can keep aiding wildlife in need for many years to come.
As you know, The Toucan Rescue Ranch (TRR) mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release Costa Rican wildlife. TRR works with a model that focuses on conservation, education, and research to ensure a brighter tomorrow for native animals.
TRR receives and cares for confiscated, sick, and injured animals from government agencies. The Toucan Rescue Ranch works closely with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE) who brings injured and displaced wildlife to the center. TRR provides sanctuary while giving treatment, rehabilitation, and eventual release to their natural environment.
For Giving Tuesday, you can be part of the action and become a wildlife hero by donating to our Papaya is Life Operational fund! The Toucan Rescue Ranch spends thousands of dollars each month to maintain operating costs. It is an expensive endeavor to feed and care for hundreds of rescued wildlife. This is easily the most important fund to support at TRR! Your donation will also help with veterinary services, medical equipment, enrichment, diets, expansions, enclosures, and so much more!
By contributing to this fund, your donation goes straight back into the treatment, rehabilitation, and overall care of injured Costa Rican wildlife. TRR continues to expand, enabling us to rescue and release more rehabilitated wildlife. TRR accepts and cares for roughly 500 animals annually. This fund is what keeps us operating and growing.

And for us, it’s a way to keep the wildlife we care for thriving and give them the second chance they deserve, with the help of all of us.
