How to Donate Items & Get Them to Costa Rica
Due to Costa Rica’s unreliable postal system, we highly recommend avoiding direct shipments to us unless using a trusted carrier like DHL. Instead, here are the best ways to get your donations to TRR:
🧳Bring Items in Your Checked Luggage
If you’re planning to intern, volunteer, stay at our guesthouse, or take a tour, the easiest and most effective way to get supplies to TRR is by bringing them in your checked bag. This eliminates shipping delays and high costs while ensuring that your donations arrive safely.
📬 Ship to Our U.S. Address - Knoxville, TN
We are working with a TRR board member in Knoxville, Tennessee, who has kindly offered to store donated items at her warehouse. Please note that shipping items to this U.S. location does not guarantee they will reach Costa Rica due to logistical challenges. However, this is a great option if you’re coordinating with someone traveling to Costa Rica soon.

If you prefer to ship directly to Costa Rica, we only recommend using DHL to ensure safe delivery. Other shipping methods often result in lost or undelivered packages. Keep in mind that DHL can be costly, so bringing items in person is still the best option when possible.
What Does TRR Need?
We’ve carefully organized our Amazon & Cuddly Wish Lists to reflect the most urgent and high-impact items for our team and the animals we care for. Donations benefit every department, from our clinic and animal care teams to office and administrative staff and even our Release Site.
High Priority Items:
- Specialized Animal Formula & Nutrition – For orphaned sloths, toucans, and other wildlife in rehabilitation.
- Medical Supplies – Wound care materials, syringes, gloves, and other essential veterinary tools.
- Cleaning & Maintenance Supplies – Ensuring a hygienic environment for both animals and staff.

- Office & Administrative Needs – Helps our rescue run smoothly behind the scenes!
- Training & Enrichment Tools – Supports the rehabilitation and enrichment of rescued animals.
