March 3 is World Wildlife Day. It’s the day we commemorate this amazing planet’s wide variety of fauna and flora and its importance. And, of course, as an organization that focuses on wildlife, we want to celebrate it big! But why?
We believe the importance of this day is established by the opportunity to raise awareness and talk about conservation. As a rescue center and wildlife sanctuary, we witness daily wildlife threats like forest fragmentation, illegal pet trade, and animal abuse. And every day, we work hard to continue our mission to save and protect it.
We like to say there’s no small effort. World Wildlife Day is the perfect time to educate and take action in every way.
The power of storytelling: inspiring others to protect wildlife!
This year, we are premiering a short documentary for World Wildlife Day 2023: Saving Sloths Together.
This short film tells how Toucan Rescue Ranch is helping save sloths in Costa Rica through our program that provides rehabilitation and rewilding for injured sloths and orphan babies.
We couldn’t be more excited to share this story on this special day. Saving Sloths Together is a program we have put a lot of effort into for many years, and we are proud to showcase it in such a beautiful way.

Dani Calvo is the marketing assistant at the Toucan Rescue Ranch. They studied Social Communication at Universidad de Costa Rica. Dani has a big passion for storytelling and social action, so working at the TRR has been a great opportunity to bring these together. As part of the Marketing Team, they support content creation, social media, crowdfunding, and internal/ external communication.
