The holiday season is about to start, and for many people, this is a time to give!
Giving Tuesday is a global event with one specific goal: to bring people together to give to a social cause. And here, at Toucan Rescue Ranch, we believe in the power of the people. We know we wouldn’t be able to do everything we do without the support from our staff, interns, volunteers, and especially our donors!
From our founder, Leslie, our Vet Team, our guides, to the interns and volunteers from around the world, we’re all here for one reason: HELP WILDLIFE. This brings us together; you can also be part of that mission!
Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to show your support for Toucan Rescue Ranch and our work. When you donate, you will be contributing to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing Costa Rican wildlife.
Why do these animals need your help?
Habitat loss, illegal trade, car accidents, and electrocution are some threats that thousands of animals face yearly. Sadly, the cases of wildlife affected by this seem to be increasing with time. Therefore, the number of animals we receive and care for is substantial. Here’s when your help gets vital!
Feeding, treating, and rewilding so many animals is not easy, but the goal drives all the people who work and support the Toucan Rescue Ranch.
No matter what you do or where you live, when you donate, there’s one thing we all have in common: we’re saving wildlife. With your support, we can keep helping as many animals as possible, which can be costly. We need over $30,000 just for a month to maintain operating costs.
Where does that money go, you may ask? Well, for example, when it comes to diets, we will go through over 2 tons of just papaya for the animals each month. To this, we have to add all the other foods, medical equipment, maintenance of enclosures, etc.

Dani Calvo is the marketing assistant at the Toucan Rescue Ranch. They studied Social Communication at Universidad de Costa Rica. Dani has a big passion for storytelling and social action, so working at the TRR has been a great opportunity to bring these together. As part of the Marketing Team, they support content creation, social media, crowdfunding, and internal/ external communication.
