It’s officially SLOTHTOBER! How will you be celebrating International Sloth Month this year? We have some ideas!
Tune in to the 8th Annual Sloth Ironman Games on Friday, October 20th, to see your favorite slothletes take to the biggest stage in (sloth) sport! Each competitor will participate in a 4-part series of enrichment challenges, with the fastest named champion!
To commemorate the 8th year of hosting this event, we have upped our fundraising goal to $8,000! All proceeds from Sloth Ironman Games will go towards our Saving Sloths Together program, which helps provide medical treatments, proper diets, enrichment, enclosure enhancements, emergency care, and more for the sloths in our care.

About the Saving Sloths Together Program
In 2017, Toucan Rescue Ranch and The Sloth Institute joined forces to form Saving Sloths Together, a Costa Rica-wide project to rescue, rehabilitate, and rewild sloths in need. Sloths are rescued for various reasons, including electrocution from powerlines, car accidents, dog attacks, and human encroachment, such as deforestation and the illegal pet trade. Often, orphans suffer from injuries and the loss of their mothers from such incidents.
This is when the Saving Sloths Together program takes action. Together, we rescue hurt sloths and give them a second chance at life to release them back into the wild once they “graduate” from the rehabilitation and release program.
